108 Baptisms In January

Image
How's everyone today? I'm probably going to say this in every email, but it's still hot here, and I miss the cold. But this week has been good! Last pday we had a zone pday, and the senior companions that are in our zone, the Olsens, brought a ton of stuff to make street tacos with! It was so good! We all helped prepare everything and it went really well! After we played some basketball and some soccer with the zone. After pday, when we had to go back to work, we ended up funding 9 new people in the span of about 45 minutes! We have our friend Rosibel, who is literally a golden contact! She has zero problems with anything we teach her and is super exciting for her baptism that's coming up soon! I also studied the entire book of mormon in English and highlighted and underlined a ton of verses that I liked, and it is definitely a treasure for me! If any of you haven't already, I highly recommend it! Now my goal is to do the same with a Book of mormon in spanish! I als...

A Scorpion And Coca-Cola Addiction?

How's everybody doing? Pretty much the same ol' here, but it's missionary work, so it's good! The work this week has been really good. This week, we had companion exchanges with the zone leaders. I went up to San Roque with Elder Telford. He's from Boise, went to BYU, and we talked about just about everything. He gave me a lot of good tips for my Spanish that will be really good for me. The first appointment we went to was a recent convert. I started explaining about what Jesus did while he was on the earth, and after I finished, she told me that she didn't understand a word I just said. So that was fun. But I shared pretty much the same thing with another family later in the day, and there were no problems  I'm not sure how that works. After companion exchanges, me and my companion found the only pizza place in Filidelfia. It's nothing super great, but it's pizza.  Also, I think I need to watch my Coca-Cola intake. I bought a 2.5L bottle of Coke one...

Electrical Fires And Costa Rican Albert Einstein

How's everyone doing? I hope you are well and enjoying all of your cold weather. It's currently 97° with 75% humidity. I would love to switch the weather! Sure, on vacation, when you can go jump in the ocean, this weather is nice, but walking everywhere in pants isn't as fun! As of the first part of the subject, yea, we had a little electrical fire in the house. I was on FaceTime with my mom and just looked back, and the outlet was on fire. There was a split in an extension cord, and I guess was running too many things at once and started on fire. I'm a plumber not an electrician, I don't know what happened, but there was no serious damage but we bought a new extension cord and don't use that outlet until they get someone to replace it.  Work wise, it's been good! We put a baptism date for our friend Jessy! She just needs to go to church, but we are working on that. Her brother Dayber wants to get baptized too, but his mom won't let him yet :( we will se...

I'm Running Out Of Things To Put As A Subject Of These Emails

Wow, it's already 2024. Crazy. But this week has been really good. Last pday was pretty lame because we stayed in the house all day, but I did get a lot done around the house. This week, we had companion exchanges. We went to a pizza place for lunch, and some random guy dressed in all white walks into the pizza place and pulls out a violin, and just starts playing it for everyone in the restaurant. He was just a happy, easy-going guy. Companion exchanges in La Cruz were really awesome. It's a really cool area, and there's a lot of wind, so you stay pretty cool throughout the day! Elder Preston is from Orem, and we talked about a lot of stuff from back home, like Purple Turtle and Taco Amigo! We found out about our new mission president that is coming at the end of July! So we will see how that goes! Back in our area after companion exchanges,  we found some kids playing soccer in the road, and we challenged them to a game, and we told them if we won, then they'd get bap...

2024

Happy New Year to everyone! There's no way it's already 2024. Time is flying. It feels like it was just Halloween!  For Christmas, the senior missionaries that are over our zone threw a huge brunch for the whole zone. We had pancakes, French toast, real bacon, cinnamon rolls, all of that good stuff. It was super fun, and we played soccer as a zone after. It doesn't feel like Christmas, though. It's too hot  We were talking with one of our friends who hasn't been taught in around a month. I'd never met him, and we were making small talk before giving our lesson and out of nowhere he asks us if we have wife's, we say no and explain the process to go on a mission. Then he points directly at me and tells me that I'm going to marry a Latina. I have no idea how to comment on that. I just said that we'll have to see, the sunsets are still so pretty here. There was a cool blood moon ( I'm not sure what it's called) the other night. It was super orang...
