We Need More Bakeries In America

Image
We need more bakeries in America. There are so many here, and walking past and smelling the delicious fresh made breads and sweets is incredible, to say the least. All the miesionarys in the steak sung in steak conference last week, and with close to zero preparation, it actually went ok. Last Pday was pretty fun. We went to our chapel instead of the stake center because there was no electricity in the steak center. It should be fixed, I hope. The Hermanas didn't want to play soccer or basketball, so they made cinnamon rolls while the Elders played outside. Most of them turned out really well. Elder Scott made some delicious apple fritters after, and those were a big hit. We have some little cards with pictures of Jesus on the front and we wrote the address to the church and our number on the back and invited some of the members we visited for family home evenings to hand them out so that should go good. One member has a little shop, and she offered to take a bunch and hand them ou...

We Saw An Armadillo

What's good y’all? Costa Rica is so much fun. We went to the Walmart last Pday and bought an American football to throw around and found a Vortex Optics store close by. I had no clue they were international. But it started raining after so we didn't play any sports. But when it was drizzling, I played some basketball. But we tried making some Oreo cheesecake, and I didn't go well. Had district counsel the next day and then went to a really good restaurant called "¿Donde George?" They've got some really good rice and shrimp. But then we had some interviews with President Cates over Zoom because he was sick. But while we were waiting I practiced some Spanish with some of the native Spanish speakers in our district. It went ok but it's good to practice. Finding people has been pretty hard and not many people are progressing very well but we keep trying. But we had some companion exchanges with the Zone leaders and they went really well. Elder Crockett is a aw...

Still In Costa Rica

Image
How's everyone doing? Costa Rica is still good. Last P-day I ate an entire Little Caesars pizza and half of a 2 liter Coke. Why? I honestly don't know. Just kind of did it and then went and played some basketball. And you can probably guess how that went. We get a lot of opportunities to help some of the kids that we are teaching with their English homework. It goes ok but I realize that I can't teach English very well. It's been pretty hard contacting and finding new people but we keep knocking doors and keep trying. Discouraging but there's not much I can do to make people listen or take a Book of Mormon so I don't worry too much. We have a lot of references that we've contacted so we will see how that goes. But we do have a baptism date coming up soon. Food is still super delicious. Recently I tried some Cas drink. " Cas fruits have an astringent, tart, and sour flavor mixed with a subtle sweetness, reminiscent of a grapefruit crossed with...

Pura Vida Y’all

I didn't write much about last P Day, but we did some grocery shopping and then went to the church and played some soccer with some natives. Their experience is definitely more than elementary school Lindon soccer league. After soccer, we went and got some Burger King. Maybe it's better here, or I was just hungry for some American food, but it was delicious. During companion study a few days ago, we were planning out our day, and I was just chilling there, I guess I was pretty tired, and I fell asleep sitting in my chair. I didn't wake up until i felt the sensation of my chair tipping over, and I shot up and luckily didn't fall. So, I stood up for the rest of the study.  I had my first district coun bettercil meeting this past week. The district is super chill and welcoming. I didn't understand most of the meeting, but I got some of it. There's a few from America that speak English, so I got to talk with them a bit and get to know them better. Lunch after was th...
