Heredia Week 9

Hello everyone, I hope your week has been going well! All the effort we’ve been putting in is really starting to pay off. Let’s jump into the highlights from this past week. On Monday, we had a great time playing soccer on a synthetic field with nearly 10 companionships of elders. Despite the rain, it was a lot of fun. Tuesday marked my last zone conference of the mission. I’m starting to realize that there will be a lot more “lasts” coming up soon. The Uber rides there and back each took over an hour. In between lessons, we were also on a mission to find corn coffee so that our friend Mario could be baptized. We visited four nearby stores and called eight more before finally finding one that had it in stock. We then had a powerful lesson with a member present at our friend Reynel’s home. On Wednesday, we had exchanges with the zone leaders. I went to León 13 with Elder McQueen. Friday involved a lot of walking, and we also filled up the baptismal font in preparation for Sunday. On Sat...

Heredia Week 8

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well! Here’s a quick update from this past week: Last P-day was a bit quiet. Everyone in the zone was doing their own thing, so we just spent some time at the church and played a bit of basketball. Tuesday was relatively uneventful. We had district council, and later we held a family home evening with a part-member family. We enjoyed some sopa negra and shared a message about the Restoration. On Wednesday, unfortunately, no one was home when we stopped by, but we did have dinner with a member family, which was really nice. Thursday brought a lot of rain, but thankfully we were still able to have some great lessons—definitely a small miracle! Friday was mostly spent contacting, but we had a good lesson with the boyfriend of a member in the evening. On Saturday, we had lunch with a member family, then visited Marisol and her mom to talk about the Book of Mormon. We also did some service by helping clean a member's backyard with a machete. That...

Heredia Week 7

Hey everyone, here’s another weekly update! Last P-day, we were in the chapel waiting for everyone to show up for a zone P-day, but at the last minute, the zone leaders canceled the whole thing. So we pretty much just called our families and hung out. We tried visiting some friends nearby, but no one was home. Tuesday, we actually had some lessons! The day flies by when we’re actually sitting down and teaching the gospel. We also coordinated with the ward and are trying to get everyone more involved in missionary work. It’ll be a slow process, but it will definitely pay off for the missionaries who will be here in the future. President Maddux decided to change the daily mission schedule, so now we’re leaving the house almost 3 hours earlier! It’s interesting to have such a big change after following the old schedule for almost my entire mission. It feels a bit strange now, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the long run. We got pizza again from a member for dinner. I’m not trying to be ...

Heredia Week 6

Hey everyone, sorry for the delayed email! Here’s how the week went: On P-day, we just hung out and played a bit of basketball—nothing too eventful. After P-day, we had a bit of Bible bashing, but it was the most well-mannered Bible bashing I’ve ever seen. You never know what you'll find while knocking on doors, I guess. It was one of the sisters’ birthdays on Tuesday, so we all chipped in for a cake during district council. After that, all our lessons fell through, so we knocked on a bunch of doors. Thankfully, some members gave us pizza for dinner. On Wednesday, we had a blitz with the zone leaders to boost our area a bit. It rained a bunch, but we found some awesome people—so we’ll see if they progress! Thursday, we finally got a new washer. The old one was falling apart. We also talked to Daniel about baptism again, but he says he wants his own “pillar of light” to confirm it’s the right thing to do. That night, we had a really fun dinner with a less active couple. The husband ...
