Ponderosa

Image
How is everyone doing this fine Wednesday? Yes, this email is going out on Wednesday because we changed our pday to Wednesday from Monday to go to the temple today! Last Monday we went to Ponderosa! It was super fun to see all of the animals and hang out with the zone the whole day! I didn't think I'd need sunscreen, but I learned quickly when I went to button up my collar after pday. My neck got fried, and didn't feel great rubbing against my shirt collar the rest of the day.  The work throughout the week has been good! We didn't find as many people numbers wise but the ones we did find seem really interested and want to go to church! We finally had a lesson with our friend Carmen that we contacted around Christmas time and haven't been able to have a lesson because she is super busy all the time! But we set up a time, and the lesson went super well! Carmen was taking notes and was actually listening to what we were sharing and wanted to go to church with her daugh...

Short Email Today

Image
How's everybody doing today? Here in Guanacaste is still good! This email is going to be short today! This week has been good work wise. We've been working with the less actives who were going to church before the pandemic but fell out of the habit. They are so good, and we are hoping to get them back to church soon! All Sunday we were with members doing visits and having lessons. It was a lot of fun and we got lunch and dinner! We have a lot of friends that are progressing but won't go to church :(   Language wise, it's getting a lot easier! I'm trying to apply my studies to my lessons and into my normal flow of talking. Some people I still can't really understand completely what they are saying because of an odd accent, or they talk super fast.  But I love you guys lots and hope you are studying Come Follow Me!        - Elder Kirby

We Got Robbed

How is everyone doing this fine Monday? Well, as you can tell by the subject of this email, this week has been a bit more interesting than last week. So let's get right into it! This week, we had companion exchanges. I went up to San Roque with Elder Poulsen. He's from Atlanta, and we talked about cars almost the whole time. We had a lot of really good lessons and Elder Poulsen and I worked really well together. When we got back to the house, there was a dead rat on top of the washing machine. Quite the surprise. The next morning, we went to a member's house and helped them move some concrete slabs that were on the side of his house so that he could paint. We helped paint a bit and it was a lot of fun. The member was playing 80's rock over his TV, so it was fun to jam out while we worked.  As for the subject of this email, our house got robbed the other day while we were asleep. Before, our window didn't close all the way. So the robber climbed up to our apartment, ...

Spiritual Thought Today!

How's everyone doing? Costa Rica is still hot, but the work is good! We somehow find people when we're not really trying to. If we set apart 30 minutes to just knock doors, not always much success. But we'll be walking to our next appointment, and we'll pass by someone who's stops us and is interested in what we're teaching. God is always preparing people to receive the gospel.  This week has been busy! We have a lot of friends that are so good and have so much potential but won't go to church. That's honestly all that's happened this week! Just out here working! Now more time to ponder about the spiritual thought!  Heleman 5:12 says: " And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the  rock  of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must  build your foundation ; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you,  it shall ...
