Heredia Week 5

Image
Hi Everyone, I hope you all are doing well. This week has flown by, so I'll jump right into it. Last P-day, we headed up into the mountains and grilled lunch. It rained for most of the time, but it was chilly, which made it feel nice. The view of San Jose was incredible, you could see almost the entire city. On Tuesday, we had district council and enjoyed some amazing chicken quesadillas. We also had a great lesson with a reference family, though they live a bit far away, which presents a bit of a challenge right now. Wednesday and Thursday were mainly spent knocking on doors. Not much else happened those days. On Friday, we saw two chickens fighting and also had some good lessons. Saturday was interview day with President Maddux—my second to last one! We had a really good lunch afterward, followed by an afternoon of knocking on doors. Sunday was pretty good with good attendance at church. We spent the rest of the day finding. Heredia Week 4

Hi Everyone, I trust you're all doing well. Here’s a quick update on my activities this past week: Last P-day, we enjoyed a massive soccer game on a private field with about 30 elders. It was a blast! On Tuesday, our plans shifted, but we had a meaningful conversation with a less-active member whose husband is not yet a member. Wednesday was mostly spent in EscasĂș. We attended the zone conference, and my companion renewed his DIMEX card. Afterward, Sister Maddox asked me to create a video for her Facebook account, so we stayed in the office to work on that. Thursday, we had exchanges with the elders of Garabito. I went to Leon 13 with Elder Maynes, while Elder Cujcuj stayed here in Heredia with Elder Medina. It was a super fun exchange. Elder Maynes and I discussed how the mission used to be under the previous mission president, and we also talked about our plans for the future. On Friday, our plans fell through, but we invited a member's boyfriend to be baptized. He mentioned ...

Heredia Week 3

Hi Everyone, I trust you're all doing well and had a great week. Here’s a quick update from Costa Rica. On P-day, our district came together to make baleadas, and they turned out fantastic! We made about 30 tortillas by hand, along with eggs, chicken, Coke, beans, plantains, and avocados. On Tuesday, we had zone council, followed by a study session in the church after lunch. It started raining so hard that the water came in under the front door, and we had to mop up a bit. Wednesday, we met with Daniel and had a very spiritual lesson with a member. Daniel is currently deciding whether to be baptized, so please keep him in your prayers! Thursday was quite interesting. We met a man who believes we came to be because of Eve and monkeys. I’ll just leave it at that. Shortly after, we met a less-active member who thinks Joseph Smith is the same as God, but still believes in God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. We’ve been enjoying a lot of delicious food with the members here. However, many pe...

Heredia Week 2

Hi Everyone, I trust you're all doing well. This will be a quick update on my end. Last P-day, we combined two zones to play soccer, which was a blast. Also, this week I received my MyPlan—a Church program designed to assist returning missionaries in planning for their futures, covering areas such as continued Church service, education, career options, and temple marriage. We invited a lot of people to watch the General Conference. When we visited one less-active member, she insisted we stay so she could treat us to pizza. She opened Uber Eats but got distracted and forgot to place the order, so we ended up waiting for about an hour. This district consists of us and nine sisters, which is different from what I'm used to, but it's been a lot of fun. Last Saturday, we spent the day in the homes of our friends, helping them watch the General Conference. Between the afternoon and evening sessions, we got caught in a downpour and ended up completely soaked on our way to one of...
