Elder Uchtdorf

How is everyone doing this week? I hope all is well with everyone and you are all reading your scriptures. This week has flown by so let's get into it. Last pday was normal, we went to get our hair cut and then looked for a new suit for my comp. Then after pday, we went to visit our friend Candy and her sons. We had an awesome lesson about the plan of salvation, we asked them if they wanted to get baptized soon and they all said yes! Candy needs to get married but I think that it can happen quickly! Then we visited our friend Jackson, who looks like a double of Brad Pitt, just a bit fatter. Then on Tuesday, we realized that Subway is way too expensive here, almost $15 for a footlong! Then we had exchanges with Escazú and they went to La Carpio and had a lot of spiritual lessons. But most importantly, WE GOT TO MEET ELDER UCHTDORF! What a spiritual experience! I'll put a few of my favorite quotes from the conference below. Both of the Costa Rica missions went to the new chapel by the temple to have a conference with Elder Uchdorf. We got to shake his hand and take a picture with him as a mission. People keep telling me I have 6 months left, so that is weird. 

The quotes:

Last P-Day In Mexico City

6 more days until Costa Rica. We got to do endowments and a sealing session today at the temple, we were there for a while but it was super spiritual.  Last weeked was the celebration of independence for Mexico and it was a party all weekend. We had a mariachi band during dinner. They fill egg shells with sparkles and some with flower and you throw them, and they explode and make a bit of a mess, but it's still fun. There were lots of fireworks all night long throughout the city. One of the Elders in my house brought Janga, and after our nightly house devotionals, we have had some super intense games of Janga. For instance, one night, we had around 8 people, and we were so into it, we took 5 minutes each turn trying not to knock the stack over. Not a whole lot to go into on this email now but I'm sure my next email will be in Costa Rica and I will have lots more to talk about. Heredia Week 11

Hey everyone! Here’s a quick update on my week! Monday was pretty normal—everyone did their own thing, so we went to the church to play soccer and basketball by ourselves. Later, we had a lesson with our friend Reynel. Tuesday was pretty uneventful. We had district council and then spent the rest of the day contacting. Wednesday I had my final interview with President Maddux. He gave me a lot of awesome advice for life after the mission. For lunch, we had Caribbean rice and beans before sitting through a 5-hour training with the assistants to the president. We got Papa John’s afterward, which was a nice treat. Thursday we were trying to make up for the time we lost in interviews and the training. Lots and lots of finding. The highlight was definitely putting a baptismal date with Reynel! Friday we visited a referral’s house and ended up teaching a bunch of different things. They even gave us lunch, which was super nice. Still In Costa Rica

How's everyone doing? Costa Rica is still good. Last P-day I ate an entire Little Caesars pizza and half of a 2 liter Coke. Why? I honestly don't know. Just kind of did it and then went and played some basketball. And you can probably guess how that went. We get a lot of opportunities to help some of the kids that we are teaching with their English homework. It goes ok but I realize that I can't teach English very well. It's been pretty hard contacting and finding new people but we keep knocking doors and keep trying. Discouraging but there's not much I can do to make people listen or take a Book of Mormon so I don't worry too much. We have a lot of references that we've contacted so we will see how that goes. But we do have a baptism date coming up soon. Food is still super delicious. Recently I tried some Cas drink.
