Temple Trip!

How's everyone doing? Hope all is well and you're having a great day. I'm writing this email pretty fast, so here we go. Last pday was fun. Did a bit of thrifting and bought some random gifts for a few white elegant gift exchanges that are coming up. Then we played some handball in Escazú. On Tuesday, we got a super awesome member reference and taught her about the Book of Mormon and the restoration. She is super interested! Wednesday was awesome. President Maddux got permission to have the mission be able to go to the temple for Christmas! The temple isn't big enough for the whole mission at the same time, so 3 zones went one week, and the other 3 the week after. Then we took a bus to the chapel en Escazú, it took almost 2 hours because of the traffic and the driver took a wrong turn. Elder Gardner got to meet his mission grandfather, Elder Scott. Then we had a zone conference and played minute to win it games and the Madduxs gave all of the Elders ties from Guatemala! Thursday we did some service for a diffrent church. We helped pack and wrap presents that are going to kids who might not get anything for Christmas. Then because of traffic we spent 2 hours in a Uber on our way to interviews with President Maddux. Saturday was the festival of light! Tons and tons of people! We wrote our number and the address to the church on 80-100 pass along cards and handed them out to as many people as we could. Sunday was the baptism of Francisco! Super awesome guy! He walks more then a mile to church every Sunday!

Last P-Day In Mexico City

6 more days until Costa Rica. We got to do endowments and a sealing session today at the temple, we were there for a while but it was super spiritual.  Last weeked was the celebration of independence for Mexico and it was a party all weekend. We had a mariachi band during dinner. They fill egg shells with sparkles and some with flower and you throw them, and they explode and make a bit of a mess, but it's still fun. There were lots of fireworks all night long throughout the city. One of the Elders in my house brought Janga, and after our nightly house devotionals, we have had some super intense games of Janga. For instance, one night, we had around 8 people, and we were so into it, we took 5 minutes each turn trying not to knock the stack over. Not a whole lot to go into on this email now but I'm sure my next email will be in Costa Rica and I will have lots more to talk about. Heredia Week 11

Hey everyone! Here’s a quick update on my week! Monday was pretty normal—everyone did their own thing, so we went to the church to play soccer and basketball by ourselves. Later, we had a lesson with our friend Reynel. Tuesday was pretty uneventful. We had district council and then spent the rest of the day contacting. Wednesday I had my final interview with President Maddux. He gave me a lot of awesome advice for life after the mission. For lunch, we had Caribbean rice and beans before sitting through a 5-hour training with the assistants to the president. We got Papa John’s afterward, which was a nice treat. Thursday we were trying to make up for the time we lost in interviews and the training. Lots and lots of finding. The highlight was definitely putting a baptismal date with Reynel! Friday we visited a referral’s house and ended up teaching a bunch of different things. They even gave us lunch, which was super nice. Still In Costa Rica

How's everyone doing? Costa Rica is still good. Last P-day I ate an entire Little Caesars pizza and half of a 2 liter Coke. Why? I honestly don't know. Just kind of did it and then went and played some basketball. And you can probably guess how that went. We get a lot of opportunities to help some of the kids that we are teaching with their English homework. It goes ok but I realize that I can't teach English very well. It's been pretty hard contacting and finding new people but we keep knocking doors and keep trying. Discouraging but there's not much I can do to make people listen or take a Book of Mormon so I don't worry too much. We have a lot of references that we've contacted so we will see how that goes. But we do have a baptism date coming up soon. Food is still super delicious. Recently I tried some Cas drink.
