No Elder, That's Not Going To Fit In Your Suitcase
Well, let's start this with last pday and talk 'bout the subject of the email. Last pday we went to TurrĂșcares again. If you remember Andres from last week's email, we went and learned some Krav Maga from him and lifted some weights at his gym/house. We're not supposed to lift in commercial gyms, but it's part of Andres's house, so it's a loophole, but we've missed lifting. We can't lift heavy either, so we made a personal rule that it has to be sets of 10, so we are lifting light but still getting a workout. The subject of the email was part of the conversation I had with Elder Scott while we were looking at machetes. Because they don't use a lot of motorized tools because they don't have a lot of money so they have machetes that are specifically designed to chop grass and bigger ones for trees. They range from 10-32 inches in length. The first one I grab was the 32" one and look over at Elder Scott, and he says,"No Elder, that's not going to fit in your suitcase." So I ended up buying the 24" one with a sweet leather sheath because then it'll fit in my suitcase.
After pday ended we went and taught one of our friend's daughters and gave her a book of mormon. She's pretty quiet, so I couldn't really tell what her genuine reaction was, but we will see if she reads it.
Had my first transfer this week! So we lose 3 people in our 8-person district and get new people. So far, I've only met one, but the others seem cool. I'm still in training, so I'm here with Elder Scott until the 14th of December. If you do the math, it's only a 4 week transfer. Transfers are usually 6 weeks. We don't know exactly why it's so short but Elder Scott thinks that it's because we have a lot of missionaries going home in December and President Cates wants to get them back to their family's for Christmas. Which makes the most sense to me.
Then, food wise, I tried Tamarindo. I'm not sure what it is, but it's Costa Rican, so why not. Bakeries have these calzone type things. That's the best thing I can think of to describe them. They've got a soft pretzel type of bread and meat, pizza, whatever inside. We tried one with chicken, and it was so good and filling.
Work wise, it's been a roller coster of a week. We go from setting baptism dates to no one answering their doors, saying no, and not one of our friends going to church. We just pray and try to stay positive. Elder Scott dropped and shattered his phone the other day, it still works but its hard to see anything because the screens shattered so we will try to go get it fixed today. But he was kind of bugged that whole day, but we ended up having some really good lessons and getting good food from members.
