Mission Conference And Cambios

Sorry everyone for not writing an email last week. We've had quite a busy few weeks with the preparation for the mission conference and also we have cambios this week that we need to plan for. For the mission conference we had to set up all of the microphones and lapel microphones. All of them were working the day before but we went to organize the benches and double check the microphones and all of the sudden none of the microphones were working and/or started to do the high pitch screech thing and we could not figure out how to fix it. We tried everything but nothing worked. So we prayed and looked on youtube and we both received revelation at the same time and finally got it figured out! We had two conferences and we had to clean the whole chapel after everyone because all missionaries left it a disaster. We lost a lot of time cleaning and organizing almost every single thing. Last pday we went to the museum of gold in San Jose and it was pretty cool. We learned that the native Costa Ricans believed in a sort of plan of salvation which was cool to see how the book of Mormon connects! After we walked around Chepe and found Orbeez pistols in an outlet mall and we were going to have a war with them in our house. We also had companion exchanges with our zone leaders. I got to go with my father, Elder Scott, and we had a really good exchange and it was good to work with him again after my training. We had the baptism of Emily!!!! We had a date with her one of the first weeks I was here and we had a few obstacles that delayed the baptism a little bit but it all worked out in the end!

Last P-Day In Mexico City

6 more days until Costa Rica. We got to do endowments and a sealing session today at the temple, we were there for a while but it was super spiritual.  Last weeked was the celebration of independence for Mexico and it was a party all weekend. We had a mariachi band during dinner. They fill egg shells with sparkles and some with flower and you throw them, and they explode and make a bit of a mess, but it's still fun. There were lots of fireworks all night long throughout the city. One of the Elders in my house brought Janga, and after our nightly house devotionals, we have had some super intense games of Janga. For instance, one night, we had around 8 people, and we were so into it, we took 5 minutes each turn trying not to knock the stack over. Not a whole lot to go into on this email now but I'm sure my next email will be in Costa Rica and I will have lots more to talk about. Heredia Week 11

Hey everyone! Here’s a quick update on my week! Monday was pretty normal—everyone did their own thing, so we went to the church to play soccer and basketball by ourselves. Later, we had a lesson with our friend Reynel. Tuesday was pretty uneventful. We had district council and then spent the rest of the day contacting. Wednesday I had my final interview with President Maddux. He gave me a lot of awesome advice for life after the mission. For lunch, we had Caribbean rice and beans before sitting through a 5-hour training with the assistants to the president. We got Papa John’s afterward, which was a nice treat. Thursday we were trying to make up for the time we lost in interviews and the training. Lots and lots of finding. The highlight was definitely putting a baptismal date with Reynel! Friday we visited a referral’s house and ended up teaching a bunch of different things. They even gave us lunch, which was super nice. Still In Costa Rica

How's everyone doing? Costa Rica is still good. Last P-day I ate an entire Little Caesars pizza and half of a 2 liter Coke. Why? I honestly don't know. Just kind of did it and then went and played some basketball. And you can probably guess how that went. We get a lot of opportunities to help some of the kids that we are teaching with their English homework. It goes ok but I realize that I can't teach English very well. It's been pretty hard contacting and finding new people but we keep knocking doors and keep trying. Discouraging but there's not much I can do to make people listen or take a Book of Mormon so I don't worry too much. We have a lot of references that we've contacted so we will see how that goes. But we do have a baptism date coming up soon. Food is still super delicious. Recently I tried some Cas drink.
