We Got A Greenie

Image
How's everyone doing today? Hope all is well!  This week's been good! On monday, one of our Zone leaders left that week, so we filled up a bunch of water baloons and had a little battle outside then played a bit of soccer as usual. We found a golden family after that we are super excited for!  And transfers! Im staying here in Filidelfia. Elder Blackwell and I are training a greenie!! We've been in San Jose most of the week getting the new missionary but got back and been working hard! The greenie is named Elder Barrios and is from Guatemala. I had no idea I'd be training, but here we are, and I know God is going to bless us for our work. Being in a trio is different, but honestly, it is a lot of fun.  Love you all  - Elder Kirby  Photos link  https://photos.app.goo.gl/991BzUk4fjcGu8h17

This week has been so awesome! Last pday we played soccer with the zone as usual but it's always so much fun. Good mix of Latinos and Gringos so it is good practice! Then, on Tuesday, we had companion exchanges for the day. I went up to San Roque with Elder Romero, and we saw some miracles! We got a call from a member who was in tears because her daughter left in the morning and hadn't returned home or answered her phone. It's was about 5 pm and we went to her house and she wanted us to pray for her daughter. So we did, and less than 10 seconds after we said amen, she got a call from her daughter! The member thanked us 1000x and said that she loves the missionaries praying for her because whenever she needs something and the missionaries pray for her, God always blesses her with exactly what she needs. Super awesome experience for me, Elder Romero, and the family! Elder Romero is an awesome missionary and has a super strong testimony! He is leaving on Thursday, and he gave ...

Eggs

This week has been good! We have a lot of people progressing and want to learn more! It's been pretty cloudy and windy, so it's been nice. We are super excited for the baptism of Ariel, Christina, and their son Saul next week!  We ate 13 eggs to break our fast and had no regrets.  Pura vida, - Elder  Kirby   Photos  https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 991BzUk4fjcGu8h17

General Conference

Hi everyone, how is everything going? Things are good here in Costa Rica. Well, I'm not a fan of writing 16-page emails, so let's get right into this week.  Last pday we took the bus to Playas de Coco to go to a member's house who lives out there. His name is Marcos, and he is a mountain of a man. He holds the record for bench press in Costa Rica, about 540 lbs. We went over and built a bench to bench press on in our house. It went really well and looks pretty professional.  Last week, we had companion exchanges with the Elders of La Cruz. Elder Blackwell went up to La Cruz with Elder Maynes. I stayed here with Elder Carpentero. It was really fun and good to see how much my Spanish has improved sense the last time I was on exchanges with him! On the bus ride back from exchanges was probably the most crowded bus I've ever been in. I was standing in the tiny stairwell with about 4 other guys, and it was shoulder to shoulder the entire hour bus ride.  Work wise we just tal...

This week has been fantastic. Last Monday for pday we went to Liberia and played soccer with most of the zone. At lunch, I drank a liter of Coke by myself. Then we came back to Filadelfia, and there was no water in the entire town. Luckily, we had some 3 gallon jugs of emergency water, so we showered with those. Then, we had dinner with our branch president and his family. Tuesday, zone conference went from 9:30am until 4 in the afternoon, which is way too long but it was really good. In interviews with President Cates, he told me that I'm leaving Filidelfia next transfer or we will be in a trio with a greenie for a transfer. Either way, I'll be leaving this area soon.  Our friends are doing so well. Lots of baptismal dates and people at church!! It's wild what people tell you when you wear the name of Christ. One of our  friends just casually told us he transported drugs and got paid an absurd about of money for it. This week is Semana Santa, so all of the buses have been ...
